“My most valuable takeaway? That people make the difference. Everyone at Coach-Con took the time to fill out the application forms, have their head coaches do it, etc. We almost self-selected ourselves as the upper end, motivated group of coaches. This really came through. People were so fascinated by the content, and really into the sport and learning about it. We were all students of the sport. That was great to be around. Yes, there’s a business end, but I didn’t feel like the business of college rowing, and making a living as a coach was the focus. I think sometimes we forget that, because as coaches we’re caught up in things that absorb our time and attention. It was such a good reminder, and made me feel really good about the sport and the people in it.”
“All of the sessions were educational but the best part was just being in a setting with others where we could talk freely, have discussions, and learn from each other.”
